What inspired you to start your business?

The Self Love Portal was born out of a massive spiritual awakening — a rediscovery of my purpose and a deep desire to help women like me: women who have spent their lives in survival mode, silencing their voices out of fear or shame.

I come from generations of brilliant women who hid their gifts and their light. As I began healing those generational wounds, something magical happened — I reconnected with my power, my self-worth, and the spiritual gifts that had always been within me. From that place of healing and rediscovery, The Self Love Portal came to life.

What were your biggest fears or doubts before taking the leap — and what gave you the courage to go for it?

After 13 years in the military and 5 years working as a government employee in the intelligence community, my world revolved around structure, logic, and analysis. Transitioning from that environment to one centered on self-love, energy work, and healing was a complete shift.

My biggest fears were around scarcity — wondering if I had enough resources, structure, or direction — and being seen in a completely new light. Sharing my poetry, my music, and my coaching publicly was vulnerable. But courage came from knowing that this work was bigger than me — that by showing up authentically, I could help other women break cycles and rediscover themselves too.

What does success look like to you, and what type of impact are you hoping to make?

Success means seeing women step into their full power — to love themselves unapologetically, speak their truth, and create the lives they’ve always deserved. I want The Self Love Portal to be a safe space for women to heal, reconnect with their purpose, and reclaim their confidence. When one woman heals, she heals generations before and after her.

Why do you believe people should bet on themselves and take the leap to start a business doing what they love?

Because your gifts are not meant to stay hidden. We are all here to serve a purpose, and when you step into yours, you give others permission to do the same. Betting on yourself isn’t selfish — it’s the most loving act you can do for yourself and your community.

If chosen for this grant, how would it help you continue building your business?

This grant would allow me to expand my healing services, invest in better tools and systems, and reach more women through workshops and online programs. It would help me continue building a platform rooted in empowerment, healing, and self-love.
